Cheers to the start of something special! Sweet August Bakery isn’t “new” per-say but has been rebranded to reflect the crazy new goals I (we) have set for ourselves as it continues to grow. I started out as a pastry artist turned physical therapist and have been working in the healthcare industry for years. However, the call to go back to baking was always lingering - I wanted independence in business, pursue something I’ve always loved while providing work flexibility for our three boys, one being autistic. As a special needs family, we quickly realized we needed the ability to work from home to cater to our sons unique needs. So, I ran a home based bakery on the side, catered weddings, dabbled in custom orders, started various side hustles and have been featured in local shops for food and photography. Crazy right ? So I had a chat with myself and asked what do I really want ? What’s the end game? Aside from the actual baking portion, I’ve always loved the rush of event catering. Whether that was making someone’s wedding cake, bridal shower cookies, birthday desserts or helping someone plan and design a dessert table. Being part of someone’s special day and have the creative license to literally play with food sets my heart on fire.
That’s why I created this new website As a family, we’ve decided to pursue our dream of opening our own event venue with options for catering. To “live and work and a family”. Now, there are many steps to take along the way, lots of baking, recipe sharing, moves, legalities, trials, risks but also reward and we’re excited to share that journey with you. Hopefully one day we’ll finally be here to post the grand opening of our own venue, a new start. For now, thanks for being here as we navigate the craziness ahead.
